Rev. Matthew Resner
Angeline Halla, 96, of Scotland, South Dakota (and formerly of Yankton, South Dakota), passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society, Scotland.
Angeline was born on November 4, 1920 to Benjamin and Emma Dorothea (Winter) Veen on a farm southwest of Menno, South Dakota. She was baptized by Rev. Otto Brunsch in Menno and confirmed by Rev. George Zink in Scotland. She lived all her young life in Hutchinson County, even after the death of her parents. She attended rural school through the 8th grade. Angeline married Harvey Halla in 1954 and together they made their home on a farm north of Yankton. To this union, three sons were born: Gary, Gregory, and Grant. She worked hard and did an excellent job keeping everything all together. She was proud of her sons who completed military careers and followed into postal careers. For numerous years she babysat and worked at Betty's Lunch.
Upon the death of her husband, Harvey, in 1993, Angeline moved into Yankton and started living at Hudson Apartments on Mulberry St. While there, she worked several years at Gurneys. Angeline also looked forward to the visits from her sons during the summer.
She spent many of her last years at the Walnut Village Senior Apartments in Yankton.
She is survived by three sons, granddaughter Dakota Marie, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey, brothers Edgar Herbert and Johann Hardus, two infant sisters, sisters-in-law Leona Att and Jean Webb, and nephew Charles Veen.
Angeline was a beloved mother who will be missed incredibly and never forgotten.
