Robert Algen Clough was born on May 12, 1942 to Glen and Maxine (Lutz) Clough in Scotland, South Dakota. He graduated from Scotland High School in 1960. Robert went on to attend 4 years at Southern State Teacher’s College in Springfield, South Dakota and began to teach Vocational Education Mechanics. Later his love for teaching, hunting, fishing, and trapping took him and his wife Pamela to Kodiak Island, Alaska where he taught school. For a time, he also opened his own gun shop.
Robert and Pamela moved into Rapid City a few years back and purchased a peaceful place overlooking a large grove of trees and shrubs in their back yard that was frequently visited by wild life.
Robert enjoyed many sports. During his youth in Scotland, he played catcher and was called “Bob the Baseball Catcher.” He also enjoyed golfing, football, and bowling, even playing a 300 game in Pierre. He was an avid outdoorsman and an outstanding marksman with a rifle. He was an active member of South Dakota Wild Life Association.
Robert found fulfillment in helping his fellow man. For a time, he was an EMT and drove an ambulance for Ed Schmidt in Scotland, SD. He was also active in Habitat for Humanity and his church. Oftentimes, he helped from the background and sought no recognition.
Robert passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at Regional Health Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota having attained the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 9 days.
He will be remembered and cherished by his wife, Pamela Clough of Rapid City, SD; children: Glen (Phyllis) Clough of Old Harbor, AK, Jay (Linda) Clough of Pierre, SD, and Amy (Conrad) Peterson of Old Harbor, AK; five grandchildren: Yorgen, Kayla, Denielle, Katherine, and Caden; five great-grandchildren; brother Dwight Clough of Scotland, SD; sister-in-law Faye Clough of Rapid City, SD; and brother-in-law Gerald Maruska of Mission, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Deanne “Dennie” Maruska and Rita Rose Stern.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established by the family.

Special thoughts to family. I remember Bob as always fun loving and kind. My dad loved Bob...I’m sure he was there to welcome Bob to Heaven...with Bob passing away a day before his birthday. He talked about his visits and times with Bob often. He loved hearing his Alaska stories. Special memories of a special man.

Bob was one of the first people I met when my parents moved to Scotland and I was in the 6th grade. We played Basketball, Football and Baseball together and he was a good teammate and friend. So sorry for his families loss!

We dearly loved Bob and he will be sorely missed. We know he is now healthy and fixing guns and playing pinochle in heaven.
